Synopsis: Scrappy and, uh, guy try to bring happiness with music; this isn't good enough, so they instigate a lateral move to rain making.
Comments: We have The Sunshine Makers closely followed by The Gloom Chasers. Opens with an animated tree background element. Gah, what a horrifying Scotsman. I think he may be what Ronald McDonald was based on. Ugly little song. By '39, Scrappy didnt really sing, and I think that was a good thing. Farmer pitches a pitchfork at Scrappy and friend, and I can hardly blame him. Marburg variant appears ot have swept through the livestock. Music apparently revives thirsty cows. I suppose this is actually a Dustbowl inspired cartoon. Scrappy has to make it rain in this cartoon. Scrappy inexplicably has a gun at one point. It's very difficult to understand the lyrics, possibly due to the print, possibly due to the high piping voices they gave the characters to sing with. It must have been in at the time, which explains my grandmother's singing voice. I get the impression that there are times when Scrappy's eyes are only irises, and and times when they have whites.
Scrappy's pal is his little brother, at first named Vontzy and at some point changed to Oopy. (I won't try to explain it—I can't, nor can I explain any meaning behind either name.)
