Synopsis: Decrepit shoemaker helps corpse boy, elves help old man.
Comments: Interesting lantern in establishing shot; all grey, no black lines. Redheaded homeless kid looks like a zombie; so does the shoemaker. No wonder he helped him, they're the same kind. I thought the man was going to take a mouse from the mouse trap and use it for food. There could be gags in what the elves bring to make shoes, but they don't make them. In every shoemaker/elf cartoon, there's at least one skew eyed elf who can't do anything right. Another Chaplin reference, so it was still in. Garbo caricature; not sure what she rasps. Kid gets shaken like a corpse at the end. Man, that one was pretty long. Celebrity caricature had a ways to go.
